5.     Question: where do all the used coffee grounds go?
·      In 2010, an estimated 64% of Canadians drank coffee each day, equivalent to 6.8 kilograms of green coffee or 12.7 pounds of roasted coffee per capita (IPSOS).
·      -> In 2010, 64% of 126,900 to 148,000 Kootenay people could have helped recycle between 1,024,128.00 and 1,202,944.00 pounds of spent roasted coffee beans.
·      Commercial Recycling into soil amendments: no such local products.
·      Informal Recycling in the Kootenays: individual gardens + community gardens compost: research in progress.
·      Coffee grounds recycling businesses: none listed for the Kootenays.
·      Coffee Roasteries Recycling: StarbucksTim HortonsVan Houte and Oso Negro have corporate guidelines and work with local efforts when present.
·      Municipal Recycling: Vancouver + Calgary recycle food waste.
