· Coffee consumption increased 3.6% to 90.0 litres per person in 2009. This is an increase of 14 litres per person from 1989.
· Coffee is the most popular hot beverage in Canada (at home and outside) with a total of 14 billion cups consumed in 2010, for health and pleasure.
· An estimated 64% of Canadians drink coffee each day, equivalent to 6.8 kilograms of green coffee or 12.7 pounds of roasted coffee per capita, with 86% of adult coffee drinkers consuming the beverage in the morning or for breakfast. (IPSOS, 2010)
· Agriculture Canada’s “Canadian Food Trends to 2020 - A Long Range Consumer Outlook”. and the Canadian coffee industry are optimistic for the future of coffee culture in Canada.
